Both static and dynamic loading modes can be applied to the specimens. Static loading is usually used until the specimen breaks or parts fail. Dynamic testing is usually used for fatigue testing and service life analysis of specimens. When dynamic loading is used, oscillation operation is usually used to simulate the real environment in which the specimen is used.

Some non-destructive tests can also be performed with test instruments to evaluate material properties:

Special test bench
